Guests are encouraged to take advantage of the underground wine cellar, which is also available as a venue for wine tastings, small intimate dinners and weddings.

The wine cellar gives our guests the opportunity to try local and international wines that have been cellared for a suitable period of time and now show all the benefits of bottle ageing. Guests can compare different vintages of the same wine, as well as wines from different winemakers in the same vintage.

Tall Trees is in the heart of the worlds most Southerly wine region, Central Otago. A region that for lovers of Pinot Noir is already mentioned in the same breath as areas such as Burgundy in France and Oregon in North America. Central Otago Pinot Noir exhibits a varietal purity that really sets it apart, something achieved without the excessiveness often associated with wines that are fruit focussed.

Within Central Otago there are two main sub-regions, Gibbston and the Cromwell basin. Central Otago wine producers that already have an enviable international reputation include "Rippon", Bannockburn's "Felton Road", "Carrick", "Mt. Difficulty" and "Quartz Reef" along with Gibbston Valleys "Mt. Edward", "Peregrine", "Chard Farm" and "Gibbston Valley".
